Low back and Leg pain

Most authorities state two basic sources of low back pain- the intervertebral disc and the articular facets. The "slipped disk" and "pinched nerve" are commonly heard terms as causes of low back pain and leg pain.

Low back pain with or without leg pain pain afflicts 1 out of every 3 Americans.

The pain in the leg is called Sciatica and may occur anywhere in the buttock, thigh, leg, ankle, or foot. It represents irritation on the longest and largest nerve in the body- the sciatic nerve.

Neck pain and Headaches

Your neck is the most vulnerable part of your spine. Not only does it support your 10-12 pound head, maintain a gentle forward curve, and permit head rotation, but it must also allow the free flow of nerve impulses to the head, face, hands, and the rest of your body. Besides discomfort and annoyance, chronic neck pain is a sign that something is wrong.

The most common causes of headaches are physical trauma, emotional stress, nutritional deficiencies, or chemical toxins. Sometimes there may be a combination of these and other factors. Our examination process helps identify the most likely cause.

Many headaches are the result of a loss of curvature in the neck or cervical region of the spine, as seen in the above picture.

Chiropractic isn't aspirin! Repeated visits, even when you're feeling better, can help retain and strengthen the muscles that support your spine. Preventative chiropractic care can help reduce the occurrence of chronic headaches.

Origins and History of Chiropractic Care

"The word ‘Chiropractic’ comes from the Greek words cheir (meaning ‘hand’) and praktos (meaning ‘done’), i.e. Done by Hand. The name was chosen by the developer of chiropractic, Daniel David Palmer.

Palmer performed the initial chiropractic adjustment in September 1895. Palmer examined a janitor who had become deaf 17 years prior after he felt something “give” in his back. Palmer examined the area and gave a crude “adjustment” to what was felt to be a misplaced vertebra in the upper back. The janitor then observed that his hearing improved."
